Occupational
Therpay

An occupational therapist assists those of all ages and with various diagnoses to be able to function better in their everyday activities.  Play, educational, and self-care activities are the primary occupations children engage in.  School-based occupational therapy services at Alcott are designed to facilitate a child’s success while engaging in these three areas.

OTs focus on key areas, such as:

OT services include:

·        Evaluation of the child’s strengths and limitations through standardized testing, clinical observations, and interviews with parents/caregivers

·        Identification of adaptations necessary for the child’s successful participation in the classroom and on the playground, as well as for carryover at home

·       Treatment sessions provided in the classroom or playground environment (“push-in”) and in the sensory gym (“pull-out”)

·        Consultation with the parent/caregiver
