Kidz Club

Kidz Club is a social skills group designed for 3-6 year olds who need support in a small, structured, play environment to develop the language and play skills they need to interact effectively with their same age peers. The group focuses on the development of social skills in age appropriate, natural contexts. Each group is co-led by an occupational therapist and special education teacher. The group meets in classrooms, playgrounds, the bike yard and the gym at the Alcott School Crane Road location.

The small group structured classes include sensory based activities, group motor games, snack and review of the "social rules."

Kidz Club goals include:

• Making friends
• Taking turns
• Reading social cues
• Improving peer interaction
Parents are an important part of Kidz Club. They are encouraged to observe through our one way mirrors and join the Parent Group which meets during the Kidz Club session.
Kidz Club Parent Group
The Kidz Club Parent Group meets during the hour Kidz Club is in session.  The goal of the group is to provide a supportive environment to problem solve issues related to parenting concerns for the children in the group and to assist parents in facilitating the carryover of their child's social skills from the group to home and school environments. The Parent Group is led by a social worker.
