The toddler program is designed for children who will turn 2 years old by the end of the year they enroll. It is sometimes beneficial for the child with a late fall birth date to spend two years in the toddler program. This decision would be made by the parent in conjunction with the teacher and /or site director at the time of enrollment.
The toddler program runs from September through the end of May.
Toddlers attend school for 1/2 day sessions only:
Morning classes run from 9 to 11:30.
Afternoon classes run from 12:30 to 3:00 in Scarsdale.
Afternoon classes run from 1:00 to 3:30 in Dobbs Ferry.
**On Fridays toddlers come from 9 to 11 or from 1:00 to 3:00 in Scarsdale and 9 to 11 and 1:00 to 3:30 in Dobbs Ferry.**
Toddlers do not eat lunch or rest in school.
Our Toddler program follows a routine to provide comfort and predictability to our youngest learners. The schedule of the day includes circle, bikes, work time, gym/playground time, special activities (music, movement, nature) and in house specials which are appropriate for Toddlers. An example of this schedule follows:
|
Morning |
Activity |
Afternoon |
| 9:00 - 9:30 | Bikes | 12:30 - 1:00 |
| 9:30 - 10:00 | Circle | 1:00 - 1:30 |
| 10:00 - 10:30 | Work Time | 1:30 - 2:00 |
| 10:30 - 11:00 | Outdoor Play/Gym | 2:00 - 2:30 |
| 11:00 - 11:30 | Circle | 2:30 - 3:00 |
The classroom is divided into areas including block building, practical life, sensorial activities, reading, manipulatives, food tasting, snack and beginning language activities. Art projects are open ended and focus on the process rather than the end product.
(Our schedule is based on a five day week. Children who attend less than five days may miss specials like music, movement or nature scheduled for days they will not be in attendance. It is not possible for children who register for two or three days to switch their days.)
There are no makeup classes!
