Mr. Andre's Class : February
“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
We wanted to first thank you for your recent donations of fruits and vegetables for our friendship salad and soup. Our goal with these lessons is for the children to come together and share how they could bring peace to the world. We listened to Dr. King’s voice as the children added all the healthy foods each stating how they could make the world a better place. We would like to transition that into their nutrition lessons. As young children they may be just learning the meaning of balanced meals and why limited sweets is not a bad thing. Thinking about PBIS is a great approach to trying new foods from a positive point of view. Every child may not be willing to try new foods, but it is important to be exposed to it. Simply by helping to prepare the food may just be enough for that child which is ok if they are not willing to try.
As a class we will make a special treat for Valentine’s Day. If you would like to send in Valentine’s Day cards you may do so. There are 18 children. When addressing the cards please do not address to the individual children, instead just sign the cards so we know who it is from. For example, Andre is giving out cards, he will write love Andre on all 18 cards but not write who the card is to.
As a reminder, it is cough and flu season, please make sure to have the children wash their hands before and after entering the classroom. We do try to go outside as much as possible, please send the children with a hat, gloves, boots, snow pants (if necessary)
Don’t forget your host week if you have not had it yet. Please ask if you have any questions.
