Issue: November 16-24, 2020

Dear parents,

It has been a great getting to know all your children and I am very pleased to be joining Alcott school. I have been trying to make the transition of having a new teacher as easy as possible for the children. Ms. Patti and Ms. Lillian have made me feel very welcome and made this transition a very positive experience. I am excited for what the school year will bring and learning more about the students and their specific individual needs.

It’s so hard to believe that Thanksgiving celebrations are only a few weeks away! November is the beginning of the Holiday season. We will be learning about Feasts and different kinds of foods through stories. We have been reading stories about the history of the pilgrims that settled in America and about the importance of the Native Americans that helped them when they arrived.

Also we have discussed how grateful we are to have friends and families in our lives.

The children have expressed what they are thankful for and will be creating Thanksgiving placemats with vibrant colors and festive decor to display their thoughts. In our hallway we displayed the beautifully colored maps of North America that the children have been creating, it has been fun learning about how many countries make up this continent.

We continue to spend a good amount of time outside and encourage interaction and social play as much as possible while keeping a certain distance away. The children are developing friendships and learning grace and courtesy through their social interactions.

As I continue to assess the children I will tailor the lessons to meet each individual needs.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Ms. Lorraine, Ms. Lillian and Ms. Patti
