Hello Alcott Families,

We hope all our Alcott Moms had a wonderful and restful Mother’s Day.  The children were like buzzing little bees working on their Mother’s Day crafts and cards.  Our class has also been busy observing and enjoying the process of watching our caterpillars grow and change from the tiniest caterpillars into chrysalis.  In the next week or so we hope to see these cocoons transform into beautiful butterflies.  Once the butterflies are ready the children will help release them into the Alcott garden.  It has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to see and learn the life cycle of butterflies.

Our class has had a productive couple of weeks, we received a visit from a local dentist, and she talked to the children about good dental hygiene. The Greenburgh Nature Center stopped by once again and shared some fun and interesting animals with our students.  It's always such a thrilling experience for the children when they get the opportunity to see and touch new animals.  Spanish and Music enrichment classes continue to be fun weekly sessions the boys and girls enjoy.  Our class had the pleasure of celebrating two birthdays recently.  The Montessori Celebration of Life is such a lovely way to celebrate a child’s birthday in school.  The children always love to hear about the journey from their birth to the present day and their classmates love to view the beautiful baby pictures. The classmates sang and gave their birthday friends a happy standing ovation.  In the next couple of weeks our class will explore and get a little taste of all things pertaining to the beautiful continent of Australia and the oceans that surround it through crafts, activities, and storybooks.

Warmest regards, Mrs. Rocafuerte, Mrs. Cinquina and Ms. Guglielmi
