LESSON PLAN FOR WEEK OF MAY 4th - May 8th

Lids and Containers:
-Order, Concentration, Coordination, and Independence
-Opening and closing containers
Putting on a Coat:
-Ask child to lay his or her coat down flat on the floor. (The inside of the jacket should be faced up)
Then crouch down and push hands her hands in the sleeves.
The child should stand up fully, lifting both arms simultaneously up. She uses momentum to lift and flip coat over her head. Adjust coat if necessary and zip it up.
Circle Scavenger Hunt:
-Explore your home to find items that are shaped like a circle. What circular items can you find?
Sensory Bin: (Making a Sensory bin)
-The importance of sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain pathways which lead to child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving, and social interaction. This type of play aids in developing and enhancing memory.
“I SPY” Games
-To develop auditory perceptual skills
-To understand a concept of a word
-To develop interest in sounds
-Recognition of the difference between vowels and constants
-To focus the child’s attention on the individual sounds which make up a word
-To develop auditory discrimination of sounds
-To hear sounds in isolation
Sounds of the Week: (“f” and “v”)
-Visual recognition of letters
-To match initial sound with picture

Ten Boards and Cards:
-Preparation of counting to higher numbers
-Growth toward understanding the pattern of the number system
-Awareness of changing from our group of tens
Life Cycle of a Frog
-We will name the stages of a life cycle of a frog
-We will engage in discussions about frogs and expand their understanding of the life science concepts and science vocabulary.
Rain Forest Activity
-We will use magazine cut outs of animals that live in the Rain Forest
