Dear Parents,

During the last two weeks we introduced a lesson to the children about Picasso. We started with a discussion that he was a famous artist/painter and the type of painting he was known for. We showed many examples of his art and explained that his paintings reflected his mood at each stage of his life. We focused on Picasso’s abstract self-portraits.

We had a special visit from the fire department to go over fire safety. The firefighters discussed with the children all the safety precautions to be taken in case of a fire. The following precautions were discussed: creating an exit plan with your family, crawling on the ground if there’s a lot of smoke, and lastly to evacuate the house immediately. Also, the children were fascinated with the firefighters’ equipment. The firefighters explained to the children that they wear special equipment to protect them from the fire. The children enjoyed the educational experience and interaction with the firefighters.

Lastly, we read a story to the children called the Leaf Man. After reading the story children collected leaves outside of different sizes, shapes, and colors. The children enjoyed collecting leaves and we created our very own leaf man. Each child collected considerable amount of leaves so they were able to bring them home. It was a wonderful activity that the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Warm Regards,
