Ms. Suki's Class : October 2019
This is a quick note to welcome you to the school year 2019-2020!
We are very happy to have our “Phase in Period” for the first two weeks, which
is designed to allow our little friends to slowly get familiar with school and everything that comes with it. We want everyone to have happy and positive start of school life, and pledge to do our best. Please remember that separation process is different for each child, and we are here to discuss with you and make a plan which is suitable for each child.
As we explained at the Back to School Night, our classroom is set up with limited materials on the shelves. Materials are all fairly simple, so that every child will feel comfortable to independently explore them. We will slowly but clearly introduce routines, rules and expectations of the class to our friends. As children familiarize themselves with the rules, routines and expectations, we will place a wider variety of materials so that these materials are appropriately used and enjoyed.
We will have a very short and simple circle time each day so that our friends get familiar with a group activity. The length of circle will increase as the school year progresses.
For the next couple of weeks, we will sing simple songs such as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Open Shut and Open Shut”, and “ABCD…..”, which many of our friends may be familiar with. We will also introduce a simple song which may not be known to the children yet but very easy for them to master. We will list some of our songs on each news letter so that you can also enjoy singing with your child.
Your participation in our class would be very much appreciated once our friends establish their initial separations. I will post the list of holidays and events you may want to sign up as a volunteer. Please look for it in a couple of weeks.
