Theme: Rainforest

 

We are going to learn about rainforests and their

habitats as we continue learning about world, different countries and different cultures.

 

ACTIVITIES

Geography:

-Watch video on continents

-Watch you tubes “All Kinds of Children”and “Whoever You Are”

-Make an earth collage

 

PRACTICAL LIFE:

-Making a trail mix (ex. Cheerios, Chex, Raisins, Small prezels)

-Watering plants using watering can

-Folding face towels

-Sweeping small objects onto a dustpan using small hand brush

 

Language:

-Reading books on nature and different habitats

Suggested books are:

The Family Book by Todd Parr

My River by Shari Halpern

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

Little Cloud by Eric Carle

I’m the Biggest Thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry

-letter writing on a rice tray

-Watch videos

-Encourage child to expand their phrases by providing simple models

 

Sensorial/Math

-Counting objects 1-10, 10-20

-Matching numbers (concrete objects) with numerals (written symbol)

-Number writing on a rice tray

-Work on work sheet (optional)

 

Science:

-Water Cycle experiment (please look at you tube video for reference)

-Bouncing popcorn experiment (please look at you tube video for reference)

-Baby oil and food coloring drops

 

Fine Motor:

-Snipping/cutting using scissors

-Coloring and drawing with makers and crayons

-Ice painting

-Drawing with chalks

 

Gross Motor

-Walk, run, jump, climb

-Throw and catch a stationary ball

-Ride a scooter, tricycle or crazy coupe

 

Sensory Activities:

-Hand washing with soap

-Find toy bugs and animals hidden in a play dough

 

Self-Help:

-Putting shoes on by yourself

-Preparing a set of clothes for the next day

-Putting on and taking off own clothes (with some assistance by an adult if necessary)

 

Social Emotional Skills:

-Using proper words to request and to show appreciation (may I help you, thank you)

-Sharing and taking turns

- Review 3 rules for circle time

-Express own feeling using words
