Ms. Jessica's P.M. Class: October

 

October 14- 25, 2019

Dear Families,       

 

We spent two weeks learning about “All About Me.”  At this age level we focus a lot on body parts, feelings and who is in my family.  Our family trees will be on the bulletin board in the hallway!  For the next two weeks we will be starting our theme about fall/Leaves.  The leaves have now begun to change colors and fall.  We’ll spend next week exploring outside to see what we see.  We will be reading the books "Mouse’s First Fall " by Lauren Thompson, "I Love Fall" by Alison Inches, and "Welcome Fall."

 

VOCABULARY:  leaf, red, yellow, brown, orange, basket, tree, crunch, wind, blow, walk, fall, crunch

 

SENSORY:  We will take a walk outside to collect leaves, pine cones and acorns to put in our sensory bin.  We’ll also explore crunching and crushing up dried leaves.

 

ART:  

o Painting leaves

o Trees with dot paint

o Hand print leaves

o Making trees with crumpled tissue paper. 

o Leaf rubbings

o Pine cone rolling

 

MOVEMENT:  dancing like leaves, obstacle course, take a walk to collect leaves

 

COOKING:  Jelly sandwiches shaped like leaves (using a cookie cutter)

         Cinnamon/Sugar toast that we will use a leaf cut out on

 

SONGS:

ALL THE LEAVES ARE FALLING DOWN Tune:  “London Bridges Falling Down”

All the leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down   (Imitate leaves falling down) All the leaves are falling down, it is fall.

Take the rake and rake them up, rake them up, rake them up  (Imitate raking leaves) Take the rake and rake them up, it is fall.

REMINDERS:

· Please check notebooks for notes

· Label all of your children’s clothing 

· Dress children weather appropriate for outdoor play.  

· Halloween Parade will be October 31, 2019- More information to follow regarding time and costumes
