Dear Families,


The student’s enjoyed our Brown Bear theme from the last two weeks. We hoped you enjoyed the books we made and are reading it together.


For the next two weeks our theme will be Thanksgiving.

We will be talking about family and friends and sharing during Thanksgiving. We will also talk about cornucopias (fruit baskets) and what fruits and vegetables go into a fruit basket. We will make cornucopias and stick different fruits and vegetables onto it and turkey handprints. We will make cornbread and then a special snack on our family feast for Thanksgiving on Tuesday November 26th at 3:00pm.


Vocabulary words we are using:

Art Projects:

· The Children will have their hand painted and stamped on paper to create a turkey

· Color a cornucopia and glue on different fruits and vegetables

· Making a Big Art with all of the children to do as a group with Carolyn-OT

We are singing:

· Funny Bird (to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel)

A turkey is a funny bird

We are cooking/eating:

· Cornbread

· Pumpkin Pie Cups



· Different feathers and other exploratory items in the sensory table and playdough at the table with turkey and pumpkin cookie cutters.


You can follow through with this theme at home by…

· Reading Thanksgiving books at home

· Using vocabulary words listed above

· Sing songs we are singing in school

· Involving your child in simple cooking tasks at home (e.g. mixing , mashing)



· With the cold weather please be sure to dress your child to go outside.

We try to get out as much as we can.

· Save the Date: Thanksgiving Celebration- Tuesday November 26th at 3:00pm

School is closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday November 27th thru Friday November 29th.

· School Resumes on Monday December 2nd.
