Ms. Suki's Class : January

Hi Families,

Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a joyful and relaxing holiday break.

Each season brings unique weather and we always go outside in all seasons. The winter is now upon us and we will try to go outside as much as possible. Please always have your child prepared every day with a warm jacket, hat, mittens, scarf and when there is snow also boots. In order to avoid confusion and upset, all items must be labeled with your child’s first and last name. When the temperature is too low, we will use our gym so that we can have good amount of physical activity on a daily basis.

In the classroom, we will explore many new activities. Our sensory table is now filled with crinkled paper with styrofoam balls of three different sizes. This is one of many ways for children to understand size concepts. The children will learn how to chop celery at the food preparation table. They will also learn to make their own lemonade later in the month. We will read "Winter Snow? Let’s Go," "Polar Bear Polar Bear, What do you hear?" in addition to "The Mitten."

We will have fun exploring opposite words through games. The second week, we will talk about Martin Luther King Jr., and learn to love and respect each other which is closely connected with our PBIS project.

The end of this month, we will learn about Chinese New Year with help of class parents. It will be a fun full month despite the cold weather. Once again, we ask you to label all your child’s belongings so that we do not have unfortunate misplacements. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

We are looking forward for the great second half of the year in front of us.

Look, at the falling snowflakes

I am a Snowman

I’m a snowman short and round

Here are my buttons and here is my hat

When the sun comes out, I can’t stay

Slowly I just melt away

5 Little Snowmen

Five little snowmen standing in a row

Each with a hat and a big red bow

Out came the sun and shone all day

One little snowman melted away……
