Ms. Suki's Class : March
The month of February went by so fast. Now, we can sense the approach of spring around us.
We will be talking and learning about the seasons, weather and St. Patrick’s Day. March can be tricky in regard to weather so who knows what we will experience. Starting this week, we will learn about St Patrick’s Day through stories, art projects and songs.
At the food preparation table, we will enjoy scooping cantaloupe and making lemonade. Our sensory table continues to be filled with cornmeal, kosher salt and dinosaurs. The children are enjoying the indoor sand box as they learn how to share toys with friends. These activities are in our sensorial area. Each activity supports the children’s senses in taking in information in order to learn more about their environment.
The children are getting better with guessing what is in the Mystery Box by using a few clues given by a teacher. The children are also enjoying listening to longer stories during circle time. Both these activities help children with their ability to focus, expand their concentration time, and enhance their listening skills as well as a strategy for figuring things out.
We are happy to see clusters of friends sharing and playing together in the classroom, playground and gym, rather than playing alone or seeking company of adults. The children are definitely developing more social skills.
The spring parent teacher conferences are going to take place on the evening of March 19th, followed by daytime on the March 20th. Please look for the sign-up sheet posted outside of classroom.
We have many more special activities in March. Please refer to the March Happening flyer from school.
School is closed-Wednesday, March 11/Staff Development Day.
"What’s the weather?"
What’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather everyone?
Is it windy? Is it cloudy?
Is there rain or is there sun?
"Rain, Rain, Go Away!"
Rain, rain, go away!
Come again on another day!
Little Jonhny wants to play!
Rain, rain, go away!
"Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall" (to the tune of “This Old Man”)
There are seasons,
Four in all.
Sun and rain and snow,
Leaves fall down
And flowers grow
"Miss Mary Mack"
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back
She asked her mother, mother, mother
For 50 cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump over the fence, fence, fence
They jumped so high, high, high
They reached the sky, sky, sky
And they didn’t come back, back, back
“Til the 4th of July, July, July
The Little Cloud

Hooray for St. Patrick’s Day
